Monitoring Software > Off-Line Emboli Classification Software: Embol-STATION

Typical applications of the Embol-STATION are :

1. The
analysis of patient monitoring in clinical centers which perform :

  • systematic (in-hospital and ambulatory) TCD patient monitoring on stroke patients and on asymptomatic carotid stenoses,

  • TCD monitoring before, during and after surgeries such as carotid endarterectomy or transcutaneous procedures such as carotid stenting,

but that lack the time to interpret the data manually. Typically, a patient monitoring takes one or more hours, and data interpretation takes at least as much time. It has moreover recently been found that embolization happens in clusters, therefore mandating longer patient monitoring, the analysis of which will necessarily require some automated means such as the Embol-STATION.

2. Clinical studies aimed at determining the embolization rates (e.g. with/without medication, or during arterial stents placement). In such studies, the data is collected on patients and is analyzed remotely "by eye-balling", which is very strenuous and time-consuming. The Embol-STATION can be used to automatically analyze existing sets of data, focusing on brain embolization, without the need to re-perform patient recordings! That makes the Embol-STATION an attractive tool for producing medical publications and for conducting useful, inexpensive clinical trials. As a matter of fact, this need has been very much validated during major medical conferences. Furthermore, analyses vary between human observers; ABMI is therefore aiming at having its off-line system included as a data analysis standard in the recommendations of the consensus on microemboli detection. The fact that clinical studies are considered as the first possible application corresponds to regulatory and marketing constraints.

Features of the Embol-STATIONŽ:

  • Off-line automatic analysis of TCD monitoring files.
  • Detection of high intensity transient signals (HITS) in blood flow.
  • Differentiation of micro-embolic signals (MES) from artifacts.
  • Differentiation of solid from gaseous emboli (91% solid vs. solid sensitivity, 88% gas vs. gas specificity).
  • EEDŽ breakthrough technology for enhanced emboli visualization.
  • SSRŽ technology to restore saturated Doppler signals to their original amplitudes and shapes.

Benefits to Healthcare Providers

  • Fast, fully automated, time-saving data analysis and interpretation.
  • Report writing time cut down to a minimum through automatic MES categorization.
  • New clinical studies from re-analyzing existing TCD data.
  • Early decision in stroke management.
  • Improved clinical outcome.
  • Increased clinical knowledge.
  • Time and cost-savings.
  • Extended capabilities of TCD devices.

The Embol-STATIONŽ and the Embol-ADDŽ are available in three versions:

1. Software
2. Software delivered with laptop
3. Software delivered with desktop
